The Jamaica North South Highway (JNSH) is a 66.13 kilometer-road located in Jamaica which connects the south coast (Caymanas, St. Catherine) to the north coast (Mammee Bay, St. Ann) with two lanes on either side/bound of the highway. The highway hosts six (6) Toll Plaza locations as follows:

  1. Caymanas, located in St. Catherine
  2. Angels, located in St. Catherine
  3. Linstead, located in St. Catherine
  4. Unity Valley, located in St. Ann
  5. Lydford, located in St. Ann and
  6. Ocho Rios/Mammee Bay, located in St. Ann

The JNSH is the first of its kind in Jamaica – not only due to the fact that it connects the capital of the country (Kingston) with one of the country’s most popular bustling tourist area (Ocho Rios) – but also because it is a closed tolling system.

The construction of the JNSH was as a result of a collaborative project between the China Communication Construction Company (CCCC) and the Jamaican Government. The initiative was and is geared towards upgrading the country’s infrastructure and assisting in the provision of economic opportunities for growth and the creation of jobs.  The construction period started on January 28, 2013 and was completed on March 23, 2016.

The Developer and Operator of this project is the Jamaica North South Highway Company Limited (JNSHC Ltd), which was founded in the year 2011. The conditions and terms of this Highway Project are captured in a Concession Agreement, which states that the period to operate and maintain the JNSH is for fifty (50) years.
